- A Smash Hit: OGI Eyewear’s Spring 2023 Collections Spark Excitement at Vision Expo East
A Smash Hit: OGI Eyewear’s Spring 2023 Collections Spark Excitement In Customers, with Fresh Styles Designed and Produced with Impeccable Craftsmanship. Spring is in full swing, and OGI Eyewear invites you to bloom with a variety of fresh designs to fit every mood. Previewing at Vision Expo East in New York City, the frames garnered an incredible response from attendees, who were buzzing about the quality and energy of OGI Eyewear’s offerings. MINNEAPOLIS, April 11, 2023 – OGI Eyewear, a premier eyewear design company, has released its Spring 2023 collection, with frames from OGI, Seraphin, Red Rose by OGI, and OGI Kids. OGI Eyewear believes that independence never goes out of style, and this collection provides a range of bold and elegant styles for every face. Chief Creative Officer, David Duralde champions self-expression in each design. “Each season, the collections explore the state of the world and showcase unique and innovative designs that speak to the mood of the times. With an eye towards a bright future, it only makes sense that an optimistic and eye-catching assortment of styles and colors would play perfectly into consumer demand for more interesting and exciting eyewear.” OGI Always bold and witty, OGI has turned the volume up on color with its spring releases. Duralde has embraced experimentation with color, transforming tortoiseshell patterns with unexpected hues and bold color blocking to create fresh styles that are playful and confident. These lively colors, viewed through layers of lamination, complement a variety of outfit choices, making these frames versatile and multi-dimensional to celebrate many personalities. OGI Kids continues to create sized-down but equally charismatic versions of OGI’s vibrant frames to allow children to explore their own sense of style. Red Rose by OGI Ethereal acetate and sleek metal frames bring dimensionality to contemporary shapes. As an OGI capsule, Red Rose by OGI incorporates organic color and restrained design to give a fresh take on modern minimalism. Embodying the power of subtlety, Red Rose by OGI is amplifying the quiet, for the person who knows it is always better to look like yourself than try to blend in. Seraphin Warm acetate hues pair with precise metal accents and vintage shapes to create perfectly timeless, elegant frames comfortable enough to wear every day, to every occasion. Crafted in Japan, these frames reveal their quality through seamless design and impressive details. “The most important update is that we’ve done some layering with the acetate to reveal custom patterned temple core wires,” Duralde says. “Temples can reveal and showcase the layers of architecture and design in each style, as you see inside the rich componentry. When you look through transparent pieces, you can see the influence of timeless craftsmanship and the nod to the industrial design evolution epoch at the turn of the century in America. These peek-a-boo elements reveal the core quality and luxury behind each design.” Shimmer The capsule collection Shimmer takes the luxe factor to the next level with fine Austrian crystal details. Shimmer takes a fashion-forward approach to sparkle, leaning into the confidence and glamour young women exhibit with their style choices. These frames are for the bold, the inner rockstar looking to elevate sleek acetate frames with a bit of pizzazz. - Turn of the quarter-century: OGI Eyewear celebrates 25 colorful years of eyewear innovation
OGI Eyewear marks 25 years as an eyewear independent; renews commitment to artistic expression, technological innovation and corporate social responsibility. MINNEAPOLIS, December 15, 2022—OGI Eyewear, the premium fashion eyewear design company, today celebrates 25 years in business. Born in Minnesota in 1997, the indie eyewear house has from its inception been dedicated to self-expression, innovation and excellence in service. Today, its silver anniversary honors a storied legacy and sees the company poised and ready to take on what’s ahead. Known for its bold, colorful approach both in products and in branding, OGI blends high-fashion compositions with vivid palettes, dynamic designs and a uniquely Minnesotan perspective. The company’s innovative approach extends towards its technology suite, most notably evidenced by its groundbreaking Virtual Try-On technology, designed to create a seamless customer experience for providers and patients. OGI’s fiercely independent spirit is perfectly suited to one of the founding members of the Optical Foundry committed to serving independent practices within the eyewear industry. Through its Eye See You giving program, OGI Eyewear supports various optical and health non-profit programs, such as the E.Y.E Community Initiative provided by Phillips Eye Institute, as well as other local and global humanitarian and social causes. OGI Eyewear’s unique DNA, world-class design and community values have fueled the rise of the company’s star for the last quarter-century. Rob Rich, CEO of OGI Eyewear, reflected on the rewarding journey to this milestone anniversary. “As we celebrate our 25th year in business, it’s gratifying and satisfying to look back on the path we’ve taken. OGI Eyewear was started to fill a void in the eyewear landscape—specifically when it came to frames. We started specializing in smaller frames with color and personality. We quickly grew to cover a broad range of frame sizes while still staying true to our primary reason for existence: crafting trend-setting, intelligent designs and color creations that fill unanswered demand in the market. This remains our passion and our daily goal. This consistent commitment will propel us for another 25 years!” In true OGI Eyewear fashion, the company is already looking ahead with excitement towards the future. OGI’s rallying cry for 2023 is a confident declaration: “The Future is Now!” And with its new “Easy as Pie” customer service program designed to exceed service expectations, an upcoming mobile app release, exciting new product designs and a suite of beautiful partnerships, the future is bright. The OGI Eyewear team extends its heartfelt gratitude towards all independent practices, artistic collaborators, partners and friends who have made the last 25 years possible, and hopes to continue growing this community for many more to come. - Shining a Spotlight on Phillips Eye Institute for World Sight Day 2022
World Sight Day is an international day of awareness dedicated to eye health, held every October by the The International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB). The impact of eye health goes beyond good vision: it can affect education, employment, physical and even social well-being. Affordable, inclusive access to eye care is critical to maintaining good eye health, and this year the IAPB is calling for individuals, governments and organizations to come together to support universal access to eye care. This World Sight Day, we at OGI Eyewear wish to recognize Phillips Eye Institute as an organization that has been doing exactly that. How Phillips Eye Institute supports universal eye care through the E.Y.E Community Initiative program In 2008, Phillips Eye Institute founded the Early Youth Eyecare (E.Y.E.) Community Initiative to make vision care accessible for students enrolled in Minneapolis public schools. The program expanded In 2014 to include schools in St. Paul and to serve a wider age range of youth. That same year, the Kirby Puckett Eye Mobile (KPEM) was established as a traveling eye clinic to service schools on-site, complete with two full examination rooms and optical shop. E.Y.E provides screenings to students from pre-kindergarten through the beginning of ninth grade. Any additional exams, surgeries, or new or replacement glasses required are coordinated and funded through the E.Y.E. program. Transportation and interpreter services are also available to students as needed. The impact of E.Y.E is staggering. Since its inception, almost eight thousand students have been beneficiaries of E.Y.E. Over 2,100 frames have been dispensed since the 2018-2019 school year—including the period of distance learning due to COVID-19 restrictions. Over the 2021-2022 school year, E.Y.E has completed over 23,000 screenings, assisted over 1,000 students with vision care and provided 620 pairs of glasses; this 2022-2023 school year, Phillips Eye Institute is poised to do the same. Cheryle Atkin, Community Programs Supervisor at Phillips Eye Institute, stated, “Our program goal is to remove vision problems as a major roadblock to learning, and eliminate barriers to eye care. We aim to help parents and guardians advocate for their child’s vision care, and to provide the services necessary to allow all students to achieve their full potential.” OGI Eyewear’s commitment to supporting Phillips Eye Institute in its mission OGI Eyewear is proud to be a donor and partner of the Phillips Eye Institute through the Optical Foundry’s Eye See You giving program. Since beginning our engagement with E.Y.E. right at its inception, we’ve provided a retail value of over $2 million in frames from our OGI, Seraphin and OGI Kids collections. This year, OGI Eyewear donated 750 frames—a retail value of approximately $140,000. The donated frames permit E.Y.E to direct funds to other areas of care, amounting to thousands of dollars each year. And with vision referral rates climbing, OGI Eyewear’s contributions continue to amplify the E.Y.E. program’s impact. “By donating high-quality, trendy frames to E.Y.E., OGI Eyewear hopes not only to provide some financial flexibility to the Phillips Eye Institute, but also to enable the students who need their services to express their personal style with pride,” said Rob Rich, CEO of OGI Eyewear. Atkin commented, “E.Y.E. and KPEM are fully funded by the generosity of donors, and OGI Eyewear has supported our programs since inception. The OGI team is extremely community-minded, generous and easy to work with. Whatever we ask, they happily provide. We are hopeful that, as our programs continue to expand, OGI Eyewear will continue to be a key partner in providing vision care to students in our shared community.” OGI Eyewear remains committed to supporting our friends at Phillips Eye Institute in their mission, with the hope that one day everyone everywhere will have equal access to eye care. - Color Theory Meets Style
OGI Eyewear Releases a Fall 2022 Frame Lineup with Inspired Color Combinations and Eye-catching Shapes Polished, timeless, and fun are all words that come to mind with OGI Eyewear’s Fall 2022 glasses frames, but the company is pushing its autumn collection to new heights. Minneapolis, MN (September 6th, 2022) – OGI Eyewear, the premium fashion eyewear design company, has announced its 2022 Fall collection, made up of OGI, Seraphin, and Red Rose frames. With the turn of the season comes a full lineup of new styles and vibrant color combinations—another step forward in OGI’s unparalleled blending of chic sensibilities and fun, subtly evocative designs. “What sets our collections apart is our willingness to stand out,” says David Duralde, Chief Creative Officer at OGI Eyewear. “We’re not afraid of this, because we want to explore and use materials differently than our competitors, all while expressing an independent point of view with our designs. Uniqueness like this drives excitement, and that’s what keeps our customers coming back, even when we push tradition.” The OGI Collection The Fall 2022 OGI collection embraces pops of bright and jewel-tone colors that work together to create a new, expressive vision for the optical industry. “We’ve seen wide use of color in the fashion industry this year, whether it’s with clothing or accessories,” says Duralde. “We piggybacked off this trend and took it one step further by exploring the countless color options that are available when you allow boldness—and color theory—to lead you toward adventurous new pallets.” This Fall’s OGI collection has created a true color story, encouraging those who don’t usually wear new hues to feel good dabbling in it. With the OGI line, the priority was—as always—to deliver frames that are daring and intelligent with a friendly dose of Midwestern approachability. The Seraphin Collection In contrast, the Seraphin collection continues to build upon its established sophistication while also injecting its vintage style with modern flair. By embracing functionality over decorativeness, this season’s five new frame varieties use rich yet refined color palettes dominated by horn and tortoise patterns and textures. Duralde recognizes that a sense of timelessness is key to upholding the Seraphin brand. “The shapes, designs, and materials we use create a bespoke air that make it very clear: these frames are for anyone who wants to embrace the elegance of old Hollywood while also showing their taste for what it means to modernize the concept of ‘vintage,’” he says. “Seraphin frames honor the past while simultaneously showing what’s possible for the future of eyewear. And the best part? We can deliver this high level of elegance at a good value considering the level of detailing, originality, and finish.” Further Seraphin inspiration came from turn-of-the-century industrial revolution metal working. Stamping and coined-edge treatments add texture and dimension, making these frames a go-to choice for those who want to express their individuality with forward-thinking designs that still pay homage to styles of the past. The Red Rose Collection Finally, the Red Rose collection caps off this season’s update with on-trend styling that embraces subtle profiles and maximum visual impact. “These frames are almost architectural in form,” Duralde says. “Their intersecting and parallel lines create a subtle profile with maximum visual impact. With their oversized shapes, on-trend styling, and transparent materials, they highlight a type of lightweight sensibility and modern direction that’s as much at home in the heartland as it is in the world’s biggest fashion capitals.” If you look closely, you might just see these frames in movies, on TV, and on the faces of major celebrities and influencers this year—and Duralde isn’t arguing with it. “We’re thrilled that our Red Rose design language has captured the attention of so many,” he says. “This brand has become a win-win for everyone!” About OGI Eyewear Founded in Minnesota in 1997, OGI Eyewear continuously pushes the boundaries of what it means to create innovative optical products while also supporting the needs of independent eye-care professionals around the country. - OGI Eyewear showcases new look for SCOJO New York portfolio of luxury readers
MINNEAPOLIS, October 25, 2021— OGI Eyewear, the independent fashion eyewear company, today unveiled a new look and feel for its SCOJO New York brand of ready-to-wear premium reading glasses. This milestone marks the latest in a series of transformations across the OGI Eyewear portfolio. Creators of the highly popular Gels Originals, SCOJO New York taps into the sizable reading glasses market with its dynamic portfolio of high-performance products. Reading glasses represent a growing opportunity in eyewear. Vision problems—particularly presbyopia, the inability of the eyes to focus on nearby objects—typically manifest in a person's mid-40s or later. Many adults combat this loss of vision with reading glasses: The Vision Council, a non-profit trade organization serving the optical industry, reported that 33 million people in the U.S. use over-the-counter (OTC) reading glasses. With the U.S. Census Bureau's report projecting that one in five Americans will be retirement age by 2030, it makes sense why market research predicts the reading glasses market will grow globally from $24 billion in 2018 to almost $53 billion in 2026. The easy availability of OTC reading glasses make them a popular choice for those needing vision correction; so ubiquitous are they that health savings accounts (HSAs) and flexible spending accounts (FSAs) will count them as eligible for reimbursement. The majority of sales were found to come from retail stores, outpacing online sales and sales made at eyecare clinics. However, the mass-produced OTC reading glasses found in drugstores, dollar stores and bookshops can cause issues if poorly made. Lenses with imperfect optical centers or flaws such as bubbles, waves or distortions may result in eyestrain, double vision or other issues if used for too long. Concerned eyecare professionals need not be alarmed quite yet—eyecare experts agree that ready-reader wearers should consult with a professional before starting long-term use of OTC reading glasses, and that OTC reading glasses cannot and should not be used to address the effects of astigmatism, eyes with differing powers or myopia. Custom prescription glasses are not expected to cede the lion's share of the vision correction market to OTC reading glasses any time soon. Instead, OTC readers are viewed as part supplemental vision correction tool and part fashion accessory. For eyecare clinicians looking to expand their relationship with their customers and maintain more complete oversight over patients' vision care habits, there is an opportunity to augment product offerings with reading lenses that won't harm customers' eyes. SCOJO New York, as a leading provider of premium reading eyeglasses, provides glasses built with durable materials and optical-grade lenses triple-checked for quality assurance throughout assembly. Selections are continually evolving and designs are inspired by the latest trends in fashion and contemporary culture. With blue light filtering options, reading sunglasses and virtual try-on technology available through the website, SCOJO New York is committed to supporting both buyers seeking stylish ready-to-wear readers and the optical providers who care for their vision. - FRESHER, BOLDER, SMARTER: OGI EYEWEAR BRAND SOARS TO NEW HEIGHTS
MINNEAPOLIS, March 28, 2022—OGI Eyewear, the premium fashion eyewear design company, today revealed its latest exciting brand evolution. The 2022 campaign elevates OGI Eyewear’s playful, pop-art inspired design philosophy to refined new heights. By seamlessly marrying crisp, bold fashion-inspired photography with OGI Eyewear’s characteristic graphic illustrations, the brand once again demonstrates an incisive mastery of aesthetic balance and color theory. The new imagery marks the most compelling chapter yet in OGI Eyewear history. With its bright palette and cheeky product names, the brand has never been short on personality, but this latest evolution highlights how inventive its playful design ethos really is. “Examining a brand is like taking a cut gem and turning it to the light—and what we found with OGI Eyewear is this new, refined facet of artistic expression,” says David Duralde, Chief Creative Officer of the OGI family of brands. “What we’re doing now is refining, refining, refining. Everything from the photography, the styling, the combination of color—every tiny detail has been deliberately cultivated to tell the story of OGI Eyewear’s growth in a way that’s just as new, fresh and fun as before, but also now more clever and sophisticated.” Fans of OGI Eyewear, and especially loyal Minnesota customers, will be tickled by the 2022 lookbook, which, along with the new brand imagery and updated product portfolio, features a beginner’s guide to uniquely Minnesotan slang. “OGI Eyewear is known for being big and bold and Minnesota-grown,” remarks Duralde. “That’s always going to be important to us. It’s something we value and keep in our hearts as we continue to grow and explore these new, intriguing aspects of OGI Eyewear.” The new branding expression will debut in-person at Vision Expo East 2022 at New York’s Jacob Javits Convention Center, where the OGI Eyewear team will be onsite at booth U527 from April 1 to April 3 to show viewers the new direction and products for 2022. - Seraphin Shimmer new releases for Spring 2022 unveiled
MINNEAPOLIS, January 30, 2022—Seraphin Shimmer, the luxury eyewear capsule collection from Seraphin, a brand within the OGI Eyewear portfolio, today announced its Spring 2022 offerings, including new Optical styles and an exclusive limited-edition selection of Optical-grade, RX-friendly sunglasses. The latest Seraphin Shimmer Optical and Sun releases capture and expand on the portfolio’s design ethos by exploring a new color palette this season. Seraphin Shimmer continues to deliver a sophisticated dialectical between refined embellishments and modern fashion expression. With designs featuring Austrian crystalline details, set in elegant monotonal textural patterns and gestures, the result is stunningly dramatic and tastefully refined at the same time. The new color expression plays with muted transparent and milky jewel tones, carefully selected to complement and expand the Seraphin Shimmer design philosophy. The Shimmer Sun collection features a concise, limited-edition selection of sunglasses, with five striking frames available in two color choices for each style. This foray into sun products was prompted by the success of the optical collection and customer’s calling for companion sunglass pieces. The release marks a first for Seraphin Shimmer. "What sets our sunglasses apart from, say, your typical retail fashion sun collection is that our styles are stunning and fashion forward, while at the same time designed with the Optical Professional in mind. All the styles are RX’able, having the V-groove, rather than a U-Groove to ensure the lens seats perfectly in the groove and the sizes and shapes are scaled down a bit to make sure the patient has many options for lens comfort. With the Shimmer Sun collection, our aim is to offer a superior product for Optical Professionals and deliver incredible style options so you can continue to provide exciting products and state of the art sun protection in the professional eyecare setting." The sun collection is so beautiful, you may find some patients taking a second color and asking you to make this in a clear RX lens, for the ultimate fashion statement to compliment their sunglass look. Each new product from the spring collection is articulated with Seraphin Shimmer's trademark artistry and craftsmanship, with premium acetates, hand-set crystals, innovative construction and tasteful shapes that evoke graceful upswept movement. Textural and tonal details abound, making Seraphin Shimmer a peerless fit for anyone seeking vintage flair with a modern twist.
